“When we were inside, we were catching some redfish and some snook and the wind just stopped. When that happens, you know it is spinning and you have 3-4 hours to get out here before the westerly kicks back up.
If you haven’t seen a cobia before, and it comes out of the depths and looks at you the first time, you’re more than likely going to think it is a shark. Everyone who fishes for cobia at one time or another has made a mistake on a cobia, thinking it is a shark.” – Jeremy Lee

“Being prepared for that type of chaos is super critical. Already having the right rigs set together with live bait and having a couple rods rigged and ready to go with some artificial is always a smart move. Having a plug that I was using as big swim bait, weighs 2.5 oz I can cast a mile. I can cover a lot of ground, and it is super flashy. I think that is one of the things that those fish really keyed in on. . . I think they were really jacked up on the idea of eating something that was flashy.” – Jay Withers
In this episode, Jeremy and Jay take us offshore where they encounter a surprise treat.
Fighting cobia on a rod is something that get really addicting. They will charge at the bait. Then, as soon as they eat it, they will immediately turn away. When the line tightens on the cobia, he realizes at that point there is a problem, and he begins shaking his head violently. Jay & Jeremy use a heavy 65 lb. braid, trying to pull the fish away from that structure.
Sure enough, Jeremy catches the first cobia of the trip.
“When we come in through the pass and realize that what we did from the diversity level – from fishing inshore in the morning to running offshore and having a blast.
